The Process
1 Make Contact
2 The Consultation
3 Sessions
Remember
There is no charge for the consultation and typically lasts around 20 minutes.
I’ll ask you some basic questions such as contact details, previous counselling experience & what your looking to gain from counselling.
We’ll run through a counselling agreement which is an informal contract between us which sets out the ground rules for any future settings and provides you with some structure going forward.
You’ll have an opportunity to ask me any questions that you may have about me, the process or anything else that comes to mind.
At this point I’ll let you know if I’m happy to take you on as a client but if I feel that your needs may be better fulfilled elsewhere I’ll try and make a recommendation.
If you would like to have sessions with myself then a date & time can be set but there’s no pressure to do so at this time.
The call can end and you can contact me via email at a later time to arrange a session if that’s what you would like to do.
Before the session I’ll send you out a conformation of the session which will contain a Zoom link & payment details.
We’ll conduct the counselling session which will last for 50 minutes.
At the end you may either decide to book a further session there & then or come back to me via email at a later time.
At no point will you be committed to a set of sessions, your in control of how fast or slow your counselling journey will be & at you wont be under any pressure to book another session at any stage of the process.
What to expect in each session
I work in an integrative way which means I’m not just trained in one way of delivering counselling to clients and if your looking around for a potential counsellor it’s a good idea to understand which methodologies they use.
Working over a number of different theories it allows me to customise and tailor our sessions to your own needs. I may switch between the different theories during our session or use a blended approach to my own responses. Typically, you won’t notice this changing happen and it’ll feel natural however it may be appropriate to name a specific approach in relation to something you said as it may provide you with points to reflect on.
In a nutshell I want you to gain as much as possible from our time together and pulling from different theories can help us to achieve this.
